our precious foster dog: sasha

warning: lots of photos.
introducing our foster dog sasha (nickname sash-ee). she came to us from new mexico. she had been an owner surrender at the shelter there. she had been neglected by her owners and her fur was so matted that she had huge wounds underneath the fur. when she arrived, her wounds to her back were large and appeared red and angry. they had given me a spray to use, but i instead used coconut oil. within days her wounds were healing. although, there are areas on her back where fur will never grow again due to the scarring. it is so sad to me that she was so neglected. she has the sweetest heart and just wants to be loved. we dealt with some food aggression. she attacked both of my yellow labradors. there were some scary moments when i thought i was done. but really, i ended up loving her more than any other. i think that the hardest things in life end up being the most rewarding, and in this case i ended up loving her so much because i spent so much time helping her become the best dog. she is so precious to me. i adore this dog!

sasha and howie love to go for rides in the car. since coming to us, sasha has had to learn how to be a dog. she honestly had no idea how to even play with a toy when she arrived. she is settling in great. we love her!

nap time. i love her batman ears in this pic. #batman

even though there were a couple fights, we know the truth. she loves my boys! i caught them getting close and sniffing each other. her crankiness is all an act.

this is her adopt me bio pic. she is just the cutest stinking dog! look at that face!! #greatpyrenees

sasha and howie are watching mama mow the lawn in the front yard. before sasha came, i did not have any experience with great pyrenees dogs. now i know they have a strong protective instinct. she is always protecting me.

#crazydoglady walking 3 huge dogs in the park. we sure know how to enjoy a gorgeous fall day.

sitting on the grass in the park is a win-win all around. the dogs love to people watch as much as i do.

selfie with my sweet foster dog sasha. she is really coming out of her shell. she is smiling all the time. it makes me happy when they realize life can be good.

i love how she is resting her paw on my arm while i scratch her face. she is so loving and precious.

somehow she figured out how to win me over and join me on the couch. it didn't take much....

the three cutest dogs on earth!  i adore these special creatures. they are my family.

wet sasha after a bath. she absolutely hated baths!

she loved to eat rawhide bones. i don't know if she had ever gotten a dog treat prior to coming here.

one night, i found sasha on my bed with this huge grin on her face. she had been watching my boys sleep on my bed with me for weeks and finally she got the nerve to jump up and sleep with us on the bed. my favorite is that you can tell her tail is wagging. she was so happy to be included in the family.

sasha and howie got to come to work with me for a few hours one day. they loved to be with me at all times!

once she knew she was ok to come on the couch, there was no getting her off. she realized how nice it was to sleep on something soft.

after the first time, it was a nightly ritual. she loved to sleep on the bed with us.

jack, howie, and sasha love to go on adventures in the car. my favorite thing about dogs is that they are happy to do whatever it is you are doing. even if it is just errands.

we went to in-n-out burger for lunch. one of my dogs favorite things to do. i get my cheeseburger animal style with fries and i get the kids no salt meat patties. they LOVE in-n-out.

we went to visit my former foster ellie at her house. its a DOG party!! 5 dogs in one place! #crazydoglady

my sweet foster dog is completely docile with children. whenever kids are around she lays on her back and waits to get her tummy rubbed. she is the best with kids! my boys are so good with kids too. they love their human cousins.

sasha is so stinkin funny. she got into a habit of carrying her food bowl out to eat near me. on this particular occasion, she spilled half of it on the way out. howie is happy to help her eat.

my kids absolutely love to hike and fall hiking is simply the best! we hiked up city creek canyon and were able to enjoy the gorgeous fall leaves. sasha thinks hiking is the best!

proof of her love of my boys. she pretended in quite a professional manner to hate them (attacking them). however, we know the truth. just look at them cuddling!

sasha is protecting the yard from a squirrel. she would have LOVED for him to fall off the power line and right into her mouth!

i kicked the kids out while i was cleaning the house. they were DESPERATE to get back inside. the look on jack's face says it all. let us in mama!!

i couldn't always take the 3 dogs on a walk together. on this day, poor sasha had to wait her turn. she stood up tall to watch us. don't worry, i took her as soon as i got home with the boys!

cutest stinking baby girl ever.

her favorite pose. rub my belly mama!

jack and sasha are blocking howie in until he shares that bone with them.

me and my precious foster baby sasha. she is the best! i will miss her so much when she goes to her fur-ever home!

sasha enjoying the weather and a bone. she loved to be outside and figured out the doggy door instantaneously. she is so stinkin smart.

precious howie, adorable sasha, and frowny face jack. family photo.

sasha always tried to reach her paw to touch me. i loved how she wanted to be near me all the time!

another great hike in the books up millcreek canyon. we love fall hikes more than anything

sunny day's in the park can't be beat.

we sure love our sasha girl. we miss her already. may her life with her fur-ever family be the best ever!
